Sarah Kolis Alterations

Bridal gown alterations begin with a 30-minute first fitting, ideally scheduled about 5 weeks before your wedding day.

If you’d like to come in earlier—especially more than 8 weeks out—please book the “1st Bridal Fitting: Consultation” appointment instead. You can schedule as late as 5 weeks out, or closer, if you’re planning any body changes before the big day.

This service includes two fittings. Any additional fittings are $85 each. On average, total alteration costs are around $1,000, though this can vary depending on the gown and needed changes.

Additional services like steaming and a preservation kit are available at an added cost.

When Should I Book My Fitting? +

back to questions

Because every dress and body is unique, pricing is based on the specific services your gown requires. Sarah will walk you through everything during your first fitting—this is a no-obligation appointment, and payment isn’t due until the second fitting. Most brides spend $1,000+ on alterations, with more intricate gowns (lace, beading, etc.) typically on the higher end.

back to questions

why silk?

Silk is a natural fiber rarely found in store-bought gowns as the plastic-based fibers tend to be much more budget friendly. However, Sarah stops at nothing to ensure your gown is absolutely perfect, and this includes exclusively using 100% silk fabrics and linings that are typically and historically found in high-end couture gowns. (Also, silk does not always mean shiny!)
