Ready to Book?
Alterations for a bridal gown begin with a 30 minute 1st fitting. Please schedule this about 6 weeks from the wedding date! If you would like to come sooner than 8 weeks, schedule the "1st Bridal Fitting: Consultation" appointment option. You may come as late as 5 weeks before your wedding or less if you are planning to change weight at all.
This appointment type includes 2 fittings total, all ADDITIONAL FITTINGS ARE $85. Total alterations pricing roughly averages $800 but varies greatly. Steaming and a Preservation Kit are optional additional costs. Custom Veils may be discussed at your 1st appointment as well! Review FAQs Below!

**Consultations are not necessary for most brides. If you would like to come in sooner than 8 weeks from your wedding to discuss alterations and get final pricing, you may book a consultation.**
Book 1st Bridal Fitting
When should I schedule my bridal alterations fitting?
- Ideal timing is about 6 weeks before the wedding (Sarah works on the dress for 3-4 weeks). Keep in mind Sarah opens up her calendar consistently 4 months out (just so she can finalize her personal calendar is all!)
HOW MUCH will this cost?
- As every dress and body is so different, Sarah charges per individual service and will communicate that pricing at the 1st fitting (which is no obligation). Payment is not due until the 2nd fitting! Most brides' alterations begin at $800+ in alterations, with lace/beading costing higher than non-embellished gowns.
Can I do an alterations consultation?
- Absolutely! You may book at sarahkolis.com. As this is in addition to the included 2 fittings for bridal alterations, there is a $85 charge for this additional appointment. All alterations services and a price quote will be discussed at this fitting! Keep in mind, this is optional!
bridal alterations FAQ's
Can you steam my dress?
- At your first fitting appointment, mention to Sarah that you would like the dress steamed! Veils may be steamed too and Sarah will package them up nicely for travel. If this is a destination event, it is best to package the dress nicely and steam it at the final location.
DO YOU DO MODESTY BUILD-UPS?
- Yes! These are for those brides wanting the high neck, added sleeves, and collar style for full modesty. These custom projects run at $800+ for the build-up.
DO YOU DO CUSTOM SLEEVES?
- Yes! These begin at $350 for fully custom sleeves. Or for a less expensive option, purchase pre-made sleeves from your bridal boutique, David's Bridal, or Etsy! From there, Sarah can just sew them in!
WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING WITH ME TO MY FITTING?
- Dress and shoes are most important! Also bring any particular undergarments and accessories you wish to try on, and the veil too if you would like to have that steamed!

Alterations for a non-bridal dress(es) are 15 minute time slots so please be on time for your appointment!
You will need your dress and EXACT shoes for this first fitting! $125 minimum (paid at 2nd fitting) with most dresses averaging $150, and heavily beaded modest gowns tend to start at $250. Please schedule this fitting about 3 weeks (or more) from the event. You may bring multiple dresses/people to this one appointment. Or, tag along with the bride to her fitting appointment!

Sarah does NOT do the following on non-bridal dresses due to high costs:
Book a 1st NON-Bridal Fitting
Book a 2nd non-Bridal Fitting/PickUP
- Custom sleeves
- Adding a lining to the bodice
- Any zipper adjustments whatsoever (including taking in at a side zipper)
- Removing a lining to a bodice
- Adding a layer of material to the skirt or bodice
- Modesty build-ups
- Bodice re-constructions (like when the cup size is too big)
